Hidden fact. Legacy OFDM (.11a) have only four raw data speed rates. 12 (BPSK), 24 (QPSK), 48 (16-QAM) and 72mbs (64-QAM). It is the different coding schemes that make user data rate of 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 and 54 mbs

I found out that the other calculator did not adjust for padding/tailbit to fill up a symbol and different formats for HT/VHT preamble.

On a 2SS device Wireshark shows 40 micros preamble duration, while the preamble are 44 micros because of the 2xVHT-LTF. Can I therefor conclude that the NIC doesn't process the VHT-SIG-B on a SU-frame?

PHY-geeks: a SU-frame of 11ac QOS-data with 1 SS have preamble duration of 40micros. Wireshark shows only 36. Is that because the NIC does not have to process the VHT-SIG-B symbol for a SU-frame? 36= L-STF+L-LTF+L-SIG+VHT-SIG-A1+VHT-SIG-A2+VHT-STF+1xVHT-LTF 40=above 36+VHT-SIG-B

The catalyst for my wireless passion was the Cisco Wifund. My first wifi cert. Wireless "hit" me. ECSE with Keith was also fantastic. During that week he said: "You have a lot of very good question. You should start blogging" Thats something I will always remember
