What makes fall colours brighter? The lack of chlorophyll allows the yellow (xanthophylls)& orange (carotenoids) pigments to be visible. The red/purple pigments (anthocyanins) are manufactured from the sugars that are trapped in the leaf. Our autumn gardens are stunning this year
