Ohio House Local Government committee unanimously refers for passage SB123, which designates the Dunkleosteus terrelli as the official state fossil fish. Huge blow to lobbies for other fossil fishes.

Where are the Latino/a/x journalists covering immigration/policy/SCOTUS/The WH/ for major media orgs? Where are the Sunday show pundits? Where are the hosts? ROLL CALL.

I find it impossible to believe that there are less than a dozen Latino/a/x journalists covering these beats. Really y'all? Or are we not wanting to uplift other voices?

We're awaiting a Supreme Court decision on partisan gerrymandering in Maryland and Virginia. It could determine the fate of Ohio's congressional map.

I'm hopeful we'll see that ambition on the podcasting side, whether that means local content on (like suggested) or the development of more local-national projects like Believed (from ),

To me, that's the most exciting part of the Texas News Hub prospect: An opportunity to be more proactive about local content. And, to be frank, to expand NPR's pretty restrictive idea of what's "newsworthy" for a national audience.

NPR is building up a team in Texas to experiment with a new way of covering a region, and getting that coverage in front of national audiences. What if those "hubs" could also work on podcast/on-demand content as well as traditional radio?

There's a lot to digest in 's "fanfic" of NPR/member station relationships in the podcast world. But I think it goes back to a core problem we're still working to solve: A stronger system for local content to get to NPR.
