I understand, that the mutated virus goes on to younger people, but why should it become more deadly? Wouldn’t it be easier for it to spread asymptomatically or just causing common cold symptoms?

Geert, you need to add some math. Most people don't understand how a very small probability of a highly resistant and dangerous mutant turns into a patient zero certainty given enough vaccinations and time. From there it's an (almost) exponential clusterfuck.

Read this. The piece I was waiting for on what happened in Manaos and now has Brazil burning! https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/01/health/covid-19-coronavirus-brazil-variant.html … to read, go to browser settings, site setting and add http://www.nytimes.com as site exemption under COOKIES and JAVA SCRIPT

Dr Geert, if we look at this pandemic through the lens of criminology ‘COVID-19 Criminality’ reminds Nuremberg trials but trials for this Covid-19 pandemic?!?

I expect mutations being more contagious are not emerging due to pressure from a vaccine. The virus will always mutate and the "fittest" mutation will prevail. Higher infection levels in absence of a vaccin will even allow more mutations to emerge.
