Yesterday, GANYC led a Fall Foliage fam tour in the lower Hudson Valley upstate. 🍂 The day trip included visits to the historic Lyndhurst Mansion, and the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Thanks to all who planned & attended the trip!

Today, Jeremy Wilcox led a fam tour of Prospect Park. GANYC members learned of the history within the park (from glacial moraine to Dutch farming village to Revolutionary War battles to Brooklyn’s last natural forest!) and how Frederick Law Olmsted & Calvert Vaux created it.

Yesterday, Joe Svehlak led a Harlem fam tour around the Mt Morris Park historic district. Joe discussed the evolution of Harlem. The walk of this district looked at its unique architecture including beautiful old mansions, brownstones, and houses of worship.

GANYC has attended WFTGA conferences around the world in previous years (they are held every 2 years) to bolster the standing of both our city & our country in the eyes of the international guiding community. We look forward to another great experience in Tblisi in a few months.

Yesterday, GANYC members attended a meeting at the Georgian Consulate. They met with the Consulate General & others to discuss our attendance at the upcoming World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) conference in Tblisi this January. It was a productive & experience

Last night, GANYC held its October meeting at University Settlement at the Houston Street Center. Thanks to all for a great turnout. We had an excellent guest speaker, Cezar Del Valle (author & theater historian), who provided a great slideshow about the Lower East Side.

Today GANYC member Stan O’Connor offered a fam tour: “US UK Canada & Ireland Tour”. It was an expansive walk all over lower Manhattan looking at the contributions of several nations to the downtown landscape.
