Last week, GANYC members were invited for a preview tour of the new Statue of Liberty Museum, which officially opens today. We thank the National Parks Service & Statue Cruises for helping arrange that. The new museum contains theater space exhibits and artifacts.

GANYC member Joe Svehlak led another great fam tour yesterday of Cypress Hills and Highland Park, in east Brooklyn. Marked by its unique height, due to the terminal moraine from the retreating glaciers of the last Ice Age, there is much to see here that most New Yorkers miss.

GANYC members had an opportunity yesterday to experience The Brant Foundation’s solo exhibition of works by Jean-Michel Basquiat to celebrate the inauguration of its new space in a century-old building originally designed as a substation for Consolidated Edison.

Earlier this week, GANYC member Anthony Robins provided members a fam tour of Tribeca, themed around the work of preservation activist Margot Gayle. Robins had actually begun his career as a tour guide doing such tours for Gayle's organization in the 1970s.
