We are proud of how our officers handled today’s incident. Rooftop negotiators found the man armed with a large knife and torch. Training and ongoing scenario based practice is critical in how we resolve these complex situations.

The darkness has made it more challenging to see and we appreciate providing lights on their ladder trucks for us. 👊 🚒

The scene remains relatively calm and we are in sporadic communication with the man. This incident will definitely affect the commute tonight. Please plan to avoid the area for the next few hours.

With support from we are able to have 2 UAVs in the air. These resources are providing officers on the ground real-time information about the suspect’s location, movement & essentially everything he’s doing. We also know what construction equipment he has access to.

Rumors that he lit himself on fire are false. He possibly has access to gasoline, but has not ignited himself. We will continue to provide factual updates here and on our Facebook page shortly.

The female victim of the home invasion robbery was physically assaulted by the suspect. She’s okay and did not require medical treatment, but she’s shaken. We had several witnesses who quickly called and a detective saw him enter the building under construction.
