I’m about to arrive back at the Venezuelan Embassy, where folks have called for a 1pm mobilization/press conference. Yesterday, the (if there’s another Twitter account associated with the pro-Juan Guaidó side of this standoff, tell me) did the same.

The / / / press conference had some mixed results for them. They got interrupted by pro-Guaidó folks with sound-makers and ran to give it at a coffee shop a block away. Full vid below, HD vid later.

In true progressive activism fashion, the et al folks who are inside the embassy itself - after their first day with the electricity cut - are laughing it off. "Embassy now 100% carbon neutral" they boast.

The chase brought them into Baked and Wired, a popular coffee shop a block and a half west of the embassy. was followed in by their rivals, and the store's manager asked them to quit shouting over her, even though he's sympathetic with their side.

The group left after one activist dressed as John Bolton did his best Bolton impression. "We need to hurry up with this war!" "You need to get out" said the store manager, and the activists complied.

Just now: took a venture into the anti-Maduro activists’ encampment next to and behind the embassy, trying to talk. While she walked in, people called her “terrorist! Terrorist!”

Things de-escalated. The total interaction was about 20 minutes, but here’s the most I can fit from the end of it in a single tweet. The anti-Maduro folk say they, like , don’t favor US intervention. The disagreement here is over if Guaidó is or isn’t a result of it.

With that agreement in mind, was able to shake hands with one person she debated, but refused by another. Between that and no violence, maybe a step toward peaceful resolution.

The question for the activists, which both sides consider themselves anti-imperialist is who here is imperialist?: -The side with American folks occupying another nation’s embassy Or -The folks whose leader is backed by the United States.

So Baked & Wired, the coffee shop that inadvertently became the center of a press conference in the standoff earlier, wants to make peace with both sides. Some of their staff just came to each side of the street to deliver both boxes of cupcakes.

At this point I’m gonna call it a night and head home. Anti-Maduro folk will be shining lights, shouting, and banging pots and pans to keep the / Embassy occupiers awake, but they’ll have to stop from 10pm to 6am due to dc law.
