Honestly the best thing to happen to 3D printing is the stable, measured growth and technical refinement that comes with the fanatics losing interest and running off to maim some other promising technology with their wildly misguided evangelism.

There’s an Active Shooter plan up at our church pre-school. We don’t even have any young kids and it still makes me sick every time I see it.

This is one of the most terrifying ideas in a while: a parser working away in a GPU doing DMA, obviously running with root privs. The previous iteration was, of course, to have a-v directly on-chip.

It is hilarious to me that people insist that Github is easy to learn. The blank incomprehension on my students' faces as I walked them through a push today was...memorable.

Fellow data nerds: here's a snapshot of the vulnerability root cause trends for Microsoft Remote Code Execution (RCE) CVEs, 2006 through 2017. A few callouts: heap corruption, type confusion, and uninit increased in 2017. Use after free steady y/y but proportionally declined.

Best part of this post is Hanno's new scanner. Second best is the casual mention of him coordinating w/ T-Mobile Austria to fix their wide open database.

You'd love _Dreadnaught_, then. It tells the story ~75 yrs leading up to WW1. Then does it again with a focus on different people. Then again with a focus on other different people. And then does it again about 12 more times. Eventually, the war starts.
