Last week I controlled (= ringed by another ringer) a Long-tailed Tit. Given their sedentary nature (95% of recoveries are <60km) I assumed it was from Rutland Water. Pleasantly surprised to hear from that since July it has travelled 86km from near Louth in Lincs

BREAKING: We’ve found that there is enough brownfield land for 1.3 million homes - enough to meet government housing targets for the next five years. There is already enough land to build the homes we need – so why deregulate the planning system?

Our politicians are not listening to the people of Rutland. Despite vocal opposition from Rutlanders, Rutland County Council are continuing with the plan to build a New Town larger than Uppingham at St George’s Barracks. Visit our website

Who really runs Rutland County Council? And for who? Gordon Brown is the driving force behind the SGB development. The Council Leader is the willing accomplice. Independent voices have been marginalised.

Who’ll be left holding the bomb? Is our MP involved. What will she inherit A soul-less car-dependent housing estate? Many of the current councillors will have retired or may have lost their seats. Will Rutland still be a safe Conservative seat? Will she still be our MP?

MPs have just debated the government's damaging plans to deregulate planning. Jeremy Hunt MP said the plans risk 'eroding local democracy, reducing affordable housing and encroaching on our beautiful countryside.' We agree. Time for them to be dropped.

Light blue touch paper and retire to safe distance. The former CEO created the SGB ‘Garden Village’ idea with the MOD under a veil of secrecy and has now retired to Norfolk – avoiding the consequences of her actions.
