I’m guessing it was put in when it was subbed for print and not updated for online?

Same. Has been on fire, especially her defensive efforts. If they are picking on form, she would have to be one of the first named.

Yep, she did it with Paige Hadley for the last World Cup after her insanely good finals run.

I don’t disagree. The pool of play by play female commentators is small & I hope there are some things to improve it because having done some commentary, it is a very difficult skill. I just feel like Will is trying to improve and is the brunt of aggression he doesn’t deserve.

If that’s the case, then I wouldn’t talk about it on twitter - look at all the random people who jumped on this thread today who don’t follow me and I certainly don’t follow them. I’m a big believer that if you aren’t willing to say something to someone’s face, don’t say on SM.

I’m not saying there is! I’m just saying I feel like some of the responses to this are getting too far into a zone that I’m not comfortable with. Let’s have a respectful discussion and direct our angst in the right direction.

First day as part of the media team ✅ I have been a massive fan of this club, on and off the field, for a very long time and am loving being part of the team. Bring it on!

This is the stuff that is just too uncomfortable to me. Swap men for women in these, and it feels a lot like the way female commentators are put down.

Will didn’t jump in, I tagged him. And you know all the things you mentioned? None of them are his responsibility or fault. He is just a professional who, unlike some others, is genuinely trying to improve. Redirect your angst at the broadcaster and/or Netball Aus.

It would be a very boring world if we all just agreed with each other all the time 😉 I just get back to my original thought, which was that I appreciate that Will is actively trying to improve and is reaching out to connect with fans.

Completely agree with this. Plus, like the Underwood thing, I feel like this has been blown out of proportion. While some definitely have room for improvement, IMO the majoriry are quickly improving.

His willingness to improve is commendable. I’m not disagreeing but there are times when these conversations skim the line of some of the talk which happened about Kelly Underwood and AFL. There are also female commentators who we are learning their craft with netball too.

Good on for engaging with fans on social media. He could just sit back in his bubble but is instead chatting with fans he can improve. It’s not easy to actively seek online criticism but his effort and the respect in his replies should be acknowledged.

I used to lie in the back seat of the car on our way home from work and beg my husband to stop st McDonalds for a “mental health buyer”. It is seriously incredible.
