Switch outsold the Wii U well within a year, and at this rate itโ€™s possible that Switch will overtake lifetime GameCube sales sometime this summer.

Good hw sales, but attach rate seems pretty bad, comparatively

Yeah, this really sticks out to me. Wonder if theyโ€™re not including digital with those numbers?

Attach rate is always low early in the lifecycle of a console, and it's actually *very high* for the Switch by comparison. This is of course driven by the number of early hit games for the system. Also see here:

This could be entirely off-base, but, surely this is down to the length of time both consoles have been on sale? Wii U owners had much more time to build up a library.

It is also as expected by management which guided 3.5-4 last March. So investors should be happy.

That's over the whole life of the systems tho, right? In that context totally makes sense. Switch owners have hardly had time to buy games, I'm sure they are (relatively) really high for this point in the cycle.

Also a limited library so far on Switch. People are buying up the few games there are, but not much is out, and not every genre is on there yet either.

Nod, that makes sense. Kinda nuts that Switch hasn't even been out a year yet - feels like it's been way more somehow

I wouldn't say "much" more but yeah, pointed that out too. Makes sense to me. It's nuts to be that it's only been 10 months O_O

Don't forget that Wii U had more games than the Switch, because it has been on the market for 4/5 years, while the Switch isn't even a year old. Also, most Wii U owners were hardcore Nintendo fans, so they bought multiple games.

They only included digital if the title had a physical version also available. So no Minecraft or rocket league.

A ratio of 3 plus makes it kinda normal at this stage of Its life, not sure if it includes indies.

This is great. It also means the fantastic content so many gamers (other than us 13 million Wii U owners) missed, such as Mario Kart 8, Wonderful 101, and Super Mario 3D World, will / should get a second chance on Nintendo Switch. Super thrilled about this!
