4 out of 6 of these countries are in Africa. Trump has never wanted immigration from Africa, remember this remark about "shithole countries"? 4 of them are also majority Muslim, so there's def a pattern here.

The bulk of the restrictions apply to immigrant visas -- ppl from Nigeria, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan & Eritrea who would mostly be coming to unite w family in the U.S. can't do that anymore. As we've said before, these bans operate as policies.

If you're from Sudan & Tanzania you can't enter the diversity visa lottery. Trump has long been a critic, saying that countries send their worst ppl ... it's a lottery, not chosen by countries, but whatever ...

Justifications given similar to . Countries don't issue electronic passport, report lost/stolen docs to Interpol, don't share info on suspected criminals & terrorists. But these are clearly selectively applied, as data show.

National security officials have publicly said that bans are counterproductive & harm national security cooperation. But, they do keep brown & black ppl from becoming Americans. And that seems to be the point.
