I took care of a patient having a “pseudoseizure” (psychogenic non-epileptic attack) today. I said, “hi I’m Jeremy. I see you’re shaking. I want you to know you’re totally safe. This will stop soon. Squeeze my hand if you can hear me.” She did. It stopped. Thx ❤️

Thanks for an excellent discussion of psychogenic nonepileptic attacks (PNEA) and our viewpoint. Emergency medicine physicians encounter PNEA frequently and play a critical role in referring patients for definitive (video-EEG) diagnosis and treatment.
