is a true European success story and as the assessment shows, we are on track to overshoot our current 2030 renewables target. However, to reach the more ambitious 2030 climate target, we clearly have to do more. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸŒΏ

The presented Climate Target Plan is not just a plan to cut emissions. It is a plan for transforming the way we produce, consume and transport across all sectors of our economy. Energy has a key role to play, as it accounts for 75% of ’s emissions.

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we need to significantly increase the share of renewable energy. The EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism will encourage cooperation between EU countries and deploy renewable energy projects. β†’

We can tackle the climate crisis if we step up our ambition. Raising our 2030 target to -55% is realistic. It improves our health and wellbeing, and grows our economy in a sustainable way. Tomorrow, and I will detail how we will get there.

To become the 1st climate-neutral continent, we're proposing to increase the 2030 target for emission reduction to at least 55%. I recognise this is too much for some & not enough for others. But our economy & industry can manage this. And they want it, too.
