The Speaker announced his retirement, granted two emergency debates for that day, the House voted on a general election - which didn’t meet the threshold - then was prorogued - which was later ruled illegal. There can’t be many parliamentary days as memorable as 9 Sept 2019.

"We remember. Not in our heads, but our whole bodies." If you only watch one thing today, make sure it's Lord Griffiths' powerful speech on why we need to extend free school meals over the school holidays.

.Simple maths! Divide £63m by 343 (LA Eng)= £184k then divide by 10k (kids on FSM Sunderland)= £18 per child enough for 1 wk of FSM w/o all else that money is supposed to pay for. LAs got it mths ago & it will have been spent! Tell Boris in real world you can’t spend money twice!

Very significant today’s report covers whole of UK , with lessons learnt from FE in all 4 nations. Just as important is scope its recommendations have for a unified skills strategy not just made in Whitehall but locally , as I & others have long argued for.

Humber Teaching staff alongside all NHS & Keyworkers are doing a fabulous job supporting our communities, they have written about their stories during the first wave of coronavirus. This book also contains art work by staff and service users.

After seeing this on social media reached out to me offering to buy the uniform for the girl to start at her new school. This is what our city is best at - looking out for each other and working together. A big East Hull thank you to Tommy for this kind gesture. 🥊

Tomorrow’s front page with the horrific UK death toll. Every scientific advisory group (and ) has told the UK Government “you need to have a circuit breaker.” When will the PM listen and act?

This is an absolute tragedy. Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and people who have been injured. It is a heartbreaking reminder of the human cost of this crisis.

Local communities all over the country have pulled together to help struggling families in this pandemic. It's time for the Government to follow their lead and make sure hungry children are fed in the holidays.

Those of us who received free school meals never forget. Very powerful contribution from Lord Griffiths.

Absolutely fascinating - and in some ways absolutely shaming - data analysis out today from OfS on differences in satisfaction between students with different characteristics.

I’m not interested in a romanticised story about a murderer, with trailers referring to him as being a ‘remarkable’ ‘icon’ & a ‘really nice guy’ I would be interested in a story about the woman he murdered. What was she like? What could she have become?
