Teachers are like children when you throw out their toys. I have not looked at these while they have been on your shelves but they are a must for my classroom now you want to get rid of them... 😂😂😂

I love it when people get offended by weeding. “WhAt kInD oF LiBrAriAN tHrOWs oUt BoOkS?!?!?” All of them. Selection and curation are part of librarianship. When you keep everything, it’s called hoarding 🙃

That is not a surprise at all. I always think that they must know all this and then when I get in the classroom even some of the teachers sound surprised. It is such an important thing to learn and understand...

Thousands of schools have shuttered their school libraries and fired their school librarians. We can’t let this continue. Please send an email to your representative to support school libraries.

A great article that not only point out the great need for everyone to understand how web searches work but highlights the very real need for school librarians. Our children deserve more than relying on a Google search!

Completely agree! But you should not have to do that. Glad your students have a teacher like you 😊

And that should not be the case! Some schools find the budget and others don’t which can’t be right. Equal opportunities for every child not just a select few.

I think it depends on what you are managing to achieve. Many school librarians are frustrated and don’t get to work in the classroom because teachers think they just issue and return books. We are information Professionals and do so much more but not everyone understands this.

As a I buy new books and resources for kids out of my own money. I keep duct tape in my office to repair shoes. I have a snacks drawer for hungry kids. I have a stash of sanitary products. It's not just teachers...

We need to keep talking about it and raising awareness of the profession of School Librarians. If we don’t no-one else will.

El bibliotecario escolar debe ser parte del sistema educativo pues su trabajo tiene un impacto directo en estudiante y el área académica, no es apoyo administrativo.
