I’m in favour of preservation, but also, historically, isn’t like 99.99...% of *everything* lost? Songs, stories, paintings, buildings, oral history, entire languages and cultures.
It’s not a new problem. It *might* be new that it feels like we *should* be able to preserve more.

There’s going to have to be a reckoning on intellectual property in the context of cultural preservation in the near future. BitTorrent and DC++ are the only avenues in the world for significant amounts of artifacts.
Or, you know, not.
