HBO’s Casey Bloys doesn’t expect every “Game of Thrones” viewer to return for the spin-offs. “I don't think anybody expects that,” he says. But... “George [R.R. Martin] has created this amazing universe... I think we'd be crazy not to try.”

Michael Lewis' turn to podcasting for "Against the Rules" doesn't pay anything close to a book and won't be turned into a movie, but his exploration of fairness makes for a great listen. Who else can make something so boring as refereeing interesting?

I get his point, these followings come about organically & are hard to manufacture, & not every show can/should be a tentpole. At the same time, I'm slightly worried? that HBO's programming chief is saying "Nobody knows what the next Game of Thrones is"

Good question . Dare I say HBO needs to maybe speed things up a bit, think more about how to keep people paying $15/mo.

Evergreen tweet: There is a huge fan base — & huge potential fan base — in the U.S. for soccer but people don’t think that because MLS is a bush league organization that needs to take the training wheels off and start behaving like a real global business (But go !) cc
