I have done unpaid Shout Casting and Voice gigs for companies in the past. I even did an exclusive first ever Battle Royale Tournament which had $50k in cash prizes without pay (Twice). No one should work for free, and this story truly saddens me.

Randy said he offered him the job and he turned it down. Someone is telling stories. :D

I'm confused. This article pretty much sums up the story was telling ...

This doesn't change the fact that David Eddings wasn't paid for his previous work.

He was already an employee getting paid.

You forget that I'm married to an HR Manager. Just because you are an employee doesn't mean the company can expect professional services rendered outside of your job description. I was talking to about this, this morning, and she has real experience with this.

An to my Unionization points earlier , a Union wouldnt allow an employer to force an employee to perform a task outside of their title unless they were provided pay for the new work. The Union I work with has that demand built into the contract.

There was no “force” - He wanted it (and reveled in it). The issue today is that Mr. Eddings is bitter and disgruntled about having been terminated. He was offered 2x scale, he refused. I don’t want him to do it unless he wants to do it, as motivation affects performance.

I certainly appreciate you taking the time to reply to this thread. Out of curiosity, was he offered a contract or job description modification which outlined the Voice Over work he performed for previous Borderlands games?

I think that's the question. "He wanted it" is moot. What person wouldnt want to voice an iconic character in a video game? The issue is, Randy has a history of mistreatment. The onus is on Randy to do the right thing. Isnt surprising in this industry to treat VA's poorly

Randy, sometimes silence is a valid response.

But, and hear me out here, how about you pay people extra for doing extra work? You saying he didn't have to doesn't mean he didn't feel like he didn't have to for a business that treats its workforce like expendable dogs who can easily be traded or replaced
