Seems the House could've spent a lot more time in discovery & dragging unanswered subpoenas through the courts, rather than just turning incomplete evidence & limited articles over to the Senate thinking anything they had left undone might be allowed to come to light by Mitch. twitter.com/ThePlumLineGS/…

Lamar said that the Dems had overwhelmingly proven the factual elements of their case.

We knew it was never going to result in a Senate conviction, so the important thing wasn't quickly proving a case to recalcitrant GOP senators, it was dragging more & more damning evidence into the public eye for as long as possible, knowing there'd be no shortage of evidence.

Revealing Senate malfeasance is valuable in a world in which the Senate refuses to pretend to be impartial with respect to Presidential misconduct. Only votes count.

This was 100% obstruction by the WH. The D’s in the House would be in court on these subpoenas until mid 2021. Congress is a co-equal branch that this POTUS thumbs his nose towards. He should be sent packing.

I agree, obviously. This is more a question of political strategy.

Maybe, but he was never going to be removed. But maybe the most favourable outcome is the one we have now. Each subsequent leak and document that comes out increases the political cost to the GOP senate. It makes the coverup more obvious, embarrassing and potentially costly.

I hope you (and she) are correct about this strategy, but I'm personally not super confident about it.
