According to the entry on the MGM lions in Wikipedia, there were 5 MGM lions and Slats was born in Dublin. It gives no provenance for the three lions used in the logo between 1928-1958 unfortunately! Thanks, Dublin Zoo

Hi Chris, there is no record in Dublin Zoo or MGM to prove this theory! Two strong male cubs were born in Dublin Zoo in 1919; one remained here and the other was probably sold before it was named.

Did you know there has been lions living in Dublin Zoo since 1855? Until 2013, African lions were residents but since then, there has been Asian lions living at Dublin Zoo as Asian lions are at a far higher risk of extinction, with an estimated 400 individuals left in the wild
