"I was watching the scene [in The Shining] where Danny goes to find the twins.. and he's an only child.. [this scene] is so much about not having a witness. He's forced to get knowledge on his own in a solitary way.. This is what I feel at [my] core." ~

I loved this episode! The feelings of anxiety around a long-desired friendship and missed opportunities for amends-making moved me to tears. Thank you and for letting us listen in. (Also - speaking of obsession and The Shining, have you seen Room 237?)

I've been thinking abt 's beautiful voice--having listened to her closely through headphones for HOURS in the past few weeks--& I'm wondering: HOW MANY OF YOU (esp women esp poets) HAVE BEEN TOLD YOUR VOICE IS TOO LOUD or HIGH or THAT YOU TALK TOO MUCH?

Voices are so important. There’s that cliche that when someone dies you learn to miss their voice the most—still, it’s so very true. It’s why sound archives are so important and why it’s so beautiful you do this podcast . tell them to listen better!! 💙💙

Also I’m obsessed with the discussion of obsession (in and out of the classroom), and Dorothea Lasky’s diss sounds wildly amazing.

Lasky’s perspective is always profoundly stimulating & inspiring. Just the piece on pre-kindergarten pedagogical practice & its influence on her creativity & thinking. One of the 5 best episodes thus far.
