Happy 5th birthday to this amazing girlie! 🎁 🥳 🎉 🎈Just over 3 years ago, when Layla was first diagnosed with a brain tumour, we didn’t know how many birthdays we would see due to her being high risk... but here we are today! We are so proud of her 💕

Layla spent over an hour being tested with a psychologist and did great; she’s exactly where she needs to be, even excelling in a few areas! We feel very relieved given she’s had so much time off school. Dylan brought home a Headmaster's award for Layla too!

Layla‘s not back at school yet. Haemoglobin‘s held so she’s bags of energy, but platelets have come down. Until there’s stability and hopefully an increase to show that bone marrow is functioning, she will stay off school to avoid the risk of bruising, bleeding and infections.

With blood counts still dropping, albeit just above the transfusion levels, we made the decision for Layla to have the double whammy of red blood and platelet transfusions. Her last transfusions were nearly 15 months ago

Some good news, Layla’s brain and spine MRI scan is clear and shows No Evidence of Disease. The cancer has not come back! It’s one less thing to worry about. We are still watching the blood counts as she is so close to needing platelet and blood transfusions

Piece by piece, donor by donor, we can help to beat blood cancer. 🧩 It costs us £40 to register a new potential lifesaver. Help us to grow the number of registrations by donating a few pounds or pennies this World Blood Cancer Day (28 May).

The results of yesterday’s procedure will determine what’s next. If it's showing empty, it's likely her final bag of her own stem cells will be infused next week. If bone marrow failure happens again, the next step is a donor. Please keep Layla in your prayers

Layla has been off school for four weeks as we've continued to have decreasing blood counts. Her platelets are still very low, immunity has dropped too and haemoglobin levels have also fallen. She had a bone marrow aspirate procedure and is recovering
