"...“Greta effect,” German and Swedish rail operators have reported a year-on-year rise in passenger numbers. Moreover, Swedish airports have seen fewer flyers since September, in part attributed to a phenomenon Swedes call flygskam, or “flying shame.”

Clothing production and consumption produces about 6.7% of the global climate impact. Europeans have almost doubled the size of their wardrobes over the past 15 years, but about a third end up sitting in closets largely unused

Wake up, world! ‘Extraordinary thinning’ of ice sheets revealed deep inside Antarctica. The current losses are doubling every decade, the scientists said, and sea level rise are now running at the extreme end of projections made just a few years ago.

Meanwhile in Sweden, here’s your good news of the day. Norms & social change can happen fast. Flights from Malmö are down 11% & regional bus use in Lund up 10% for 1st 4 months 2019. It’s already becoming a norm in Sweden not to fly - are cars next?

Planetary waves in the jet stream, on steroids due to global warming, and the 2018 summer extremes around the northern hemisphere: there's been quite a bit of coverage in China about our new study, e.g. If you prefer English:

We research, regulate and worry a lot about outdoor air pollution. But we spend most of our time indoors. It turns out that indoor air is often significantly more toxic than outdoors.

in 1 day. 11000 homes retrofitted in the NL to 0 energy. This is genuine climate neutral transformation of our building stock. Saving 100% of building emissions (presently almost 30% of global emissions) &utility costs without the hassle of moving out.

Good idea, investments make a much bigger difference than individual lifestyle choices. Does anyone know of any policy related to on investment (or other) anywhere?

THX - very interesting! The poorest households emit almost as much for heating+power as the richest? Shocking proof that are most needed for those who can afford them least. We need climate finance to kill these two birds with one stone (energy poverty&emissions).
