Kaapo Kakko is having a very strong start to the season. Has already 2G, 3A and 5P in 4 games. Not bad for a rookie in He's as good as I hoped he'd be

I was surprised to see Zamula slip through the draft in June. Big guy with workable mobility and defensive zone awareness. Passing game is a weakness, but help him develop a good first pass and he'll be fine. Also key: he's going to get a LOT of ice time over the next two years

Kirill Marchenko (CBJ '18) just got dirty in the MHL.

I still see some Stars fans asking about where Jermaine Loewen is going to play this season, and this is confirmation that he's going back to the WHL for his overage year. On the plus side for me, I already have the date circled for when Kamloops comes to town to play Calgary

No surprise here. The Stars love Dellandrea and he earned this with his play between the draft and now

Klingberg's happiness is important, but winning games is far more important. I think Kling is an underrated penalty killer, but still not as good as Johns. For my money, Lindell-Johns is the best shutdown pairing possible for the Stars

Somebody has to play with Methot on the 3rd pair. And the less Methot plays on the PK (2nd unit instead of 1st), the more he and Honka can play at ES Also, I doubt that Montgomery is going to hold back Honka the way that Hitch did

Oh no, not at all. Honka needs minutes. I want a 3rd pair of him and Methot to get regular shifts at ES and then him get time on the second PP unit. Also, when Methot and Kling kill a penalty together, trot out Heiskanen-Honka for the next ES shift. Gotta think special teams too

Personally, I don't think Methot is good enough anymore to go up against the top lines and top powerplay units of other teams. If the Stars are protecting a one-goal lead on the PK against Scheifele, Wheeler, Laine, Ehlers and Big Buff, I don't want Methot out there

I'd like to see the Stars have a dedicated shutdown and penalty kill pair, and the best duo would be Lindell-Johns. If you have to go up against a powerful top PP against, say, the Jets, I want the increase the odds that the duo will be fresh

Yep. I think Heiskanen will be a great defensive player in the NHL, but I'd like to see the Stars ease him into tough situations

What I would run: Even strength: Heiskanen-Klingberg Lindell-Johns Methot-Honka PP1: Klingberg PP2: Honka / Heiskanen PK1: Lindell-Johns PK2: Methot-Klingberg Any time the Stars go on the PK at least one of the duos will be fresh

Don't be surprised if Heiskanen and Klingberg spend a lot of time together at even strength. The reason? A pairing of Lindell and Johns would be the Stars' best duo when it comes to shutdown situations and the PK

13 years ago today I made a choice and decision to stop drinking and doing drugs. Best decision ever. Started on a path of healing and understanding trauma, mental health and addiction. What a ride but it’s always just one day at a time. Healing is continuous and forever.
