Let’s give some big props to the child’s mother. She fought to save her child’s life until the community could rally around her, and get police on scene to help. Great work by all to bring this event to a positive resolution

These illegal handguns were seized by frontline uniformed officers in the first few days of August. These weapons and those that choose to carry them are a clear and present danger to our community. We will continue working tirelessly to take them off the streets.

“It is important to remember that Emancipation Day wasn’t just a celebration 186 years ago. It was a call to action- and one that must continue today as Black People continue to face racism and violence “—Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard

Sadness for the victim and her family combined with frustration from our team who along with others, repeatedly tried to mitigate it. A failure of systems to protect her. 1/2 of Peel’s homicides in 2019 were intimate partner/familial violence.

This is gross negligence. The legal system continues to fail women and fails to prioritize their safety. We must push for change!!!

As a society, we all need to wear this. Too often, intimate partner violence is seen as “their” issue to be dealt with behind closed doors, leaving the vulnerable more vulnerable and the courts less accountable to keep them safe.

This is the tragic conclusion of Intimate Partner Violence. The accused was arrested and charged multiple times. He should not have been in a position to take this women’s life.
