This is beautiful. Gran Slam: seniors performing slam poetry. Thanks to for putting this together. Really gorgeous stuff. Reminds me what poetry (and life) is all about.

When I become ruler of all literature I’m going to put a limit on one self serving whiteness enabled middle class wank per century

RUOK? No? Tough because government only gives you limited amount of therapy sessions a year, drugs are coming off the PBS, mental health in public hospitals is being defunded and depending on your race, class, sexuality, gender and geography your health access is variable.

I don't want love. I want a fucking world that doesn't make us mentally ill. But I'd settle for a nation that offered anything close to adequate mental health care. Stop your d-grade bullshit obfuscation of a brutal reality. Fuck your thoughts and prayers.

which used today as a platform of their own in a truly meaningful way. May their be more of this and less rhetoric, posturing and balloons.

Agree with all of these points & usually do the same, these MH awareness days aren’t interrogated enough (and often tied to feel good corporate branding) but today I was part of an event run by a Suicide Prevention Collaborative driven by lived experience individuals & community

Personally boycotting . I’m not ok, and I won’t be until psychological care is a right and not a privilege, cops stop killing people during psychotic episodes, non consensual ECT is outlawed, and lefties stop saying that Trump’s crazy. Read some Adorno.

Yes ask if your friends and family are ok but also spend your time, resources and money on tearing down the structures that ensure people are not ok

Don’t have answers and have very mixed feelings about these branded MH days. Just know this morning I arrived with much trepidation & left with a little hope (and some good hugs)

Just back from hosting big event on suicide prevention in the Illawarra. Good to see - which to me can be an empty vessel/branding - filled with true meaning, loss, hope, & the full realm of lived experience. Ask people how they are tomorrow (& the day after that repeat)
