Judith Regan was prepared to publish an actual (alleged) murderer, so a credibly multiple-accused sexual harasser isn't out of the question

True, true. But more and more recent allegations here, and also Kavanaugh is basically part of the Trump phenomenon. This is happening in the context of elite liberal institutions!

With the obvious exception of the president himself, who is sui generis, is there a more egregious case to date of someone rebounding from extremely serious and credible MeToo allegations?

The list of Democratic strategists who participated in this is coincidentally also the list of Democratic strategists who failed to prevent Trump and the GOP takeover of practically everything. Disgraceful hacks, the whole lot.

So do I! Itā€™s funny, Rieff and I thoroughly agree on Holbrooke and the Blob, but he read the book differently than I did. And we seem to have flagged exactly the same passages but drawn opposite conclusions about Packerā€™s intent from them!

Christ, I missed this the other day, but for Bill Maher to use his massive platform to encourage people who are already consumed with self-loathing (most of whom are not sexual predators) to kill themselves is a genuine public health menace. He is awful and should not be on TV

Maybe folks should boycott his show. I am tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom. This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa. It didn't work then and it won't now.

Ok so is Biden trying to remind us that that heā€™s responsible for permanently trading away most of the revenue from the expiring Bush tax cuts in exchange for a two month postponement of the sequester and no increase to the debt ceiling, setting up the later debilitating crisis?

Almost every publication I've ever worked for existed because of a benevolent patron. When it's good, it's really good. But you never know when it's going to go bad. And it never has to do with the quality of your work.
