The old god I disbelieved allowed me to be gay, cruelly sat in condescension and condemnation over something I couldn’t change and because of it was going to send me to hell. The real God who came down, met me, made me right with himself as a free gift I fell deeply in love with.

If you are an atheist, I can almost guarantee you that the god you disbelieve isn’t the God who exists. I still passionately reject the false god I disbelieved as an atheist.

If only we had eyes to see how beautiful God is. All our lusts, vanity, idols, heart-break, burdens, shame, guilt all come from one essential defect: to be unable to see with the eyes of one’s heart the beauty of our Creator.

Without the incarnation we are in the dark about the full personhood of God, and without Pentecost, we are in the dark about the full effects of God’s person upon our own.

Just as all beliefs about God and his nature have to bow to and be submitted to the glory of the Word becoming flesh; so all our theories and moral reckoning of what God desires of us need to submit to that Word through the authority of the scriptures.

Calvinism has emphasised the ontological side of the mystery of salvation by grace, and Arminianism, the phenomenological side of knowing God relationally as gift. To ignore one or the the other can lead to a deficient Christianity, and the two sides of “charis” (grace) in Greek.

I have always thought evangelical churches won't become more welcoming of Side B gay people until more pastors/leaders come out. This is such an important and hopeful testimony from :

"God waits to be wanted." - I love the paradox of the fact that desiring God never saves us, but desiring God is one of the deepest signs that Jesus' grace has saved us. When our desires are turned toward God by grace, there is no stronger or more ecstatic thing.
