HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ! The original film that started it all was released this day in 1965. Through 55 years and 12 films, the titanic terrapin has evolved beyond being a mere ripoff, emerging as a true superstar. What are your favorite Gamera films/memories?

I'm super pumped to be a part of issue 1! I had a blast working on my "creative tidbit," and I hope people enjoy it when the magazine releases!

I'm absolutely thrilled to be contributing one of those "creative tidbits" to the debut issue of KAIJU RAMEN! What exactly is this contribution? You'll have to stay tuned to find out! Keep your eyes peeled for the Kickstarter, and spread the word!

Thank you! There's an incredible amount of depth to Akane's character; she must overcome trauma to rise to an almost sacred destiny, and fight the thing that made her question the worth of her own existence. I look forward to portraying that in the book!

"Through the fog and clinging water droplets I could still see the form of the beast. It stood larger than life – larger than death – above its defeated enemy. Above me. Above humanity..." Read more of the GNP adaptation of GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA:

I have a deep, completely unapologetic love for Godzilla bootleg figures. 😂 My favorite thing about them is finding the one change they made to make the figure "not technically" Godzilla. On the Mexican bootlegs, it was definitely his shark-fin spines!

What you've got there is a VERY beat up bootleg Godzilla made in Mexico in the 1980s. They came in several colors, including blue and purple! This is my purple one:

and make blink-and-you'll-miss-it caricatured cameos in the first episode of Hulu's reboot! Ironically, the show released the same day GODZILLA VS. KONG was supposed to hit theaters.

Happy birthday to Showa-era suit actor Hiroshi Sekita, born this day in 1932. Sekita was one of the most prolific suit actors of the Golden Age. His many roles included Gorosaurus, Mechani-Kong, Anguirus, Sanda, and even himself. Today would've been his 88th birthday.

This is my favorite behind-the-scenes image from the original . As the legendary Eiji Tsuburaya prepares for the next FX scene, Godzilla stands silently behind him, his human-like eye turned downward, staring at the man who gave him cinematic life. Simple, yet haunting.
