This journalists experience of being locked out of WeChat after posting pics of a vigil in Tiananmen Square, then needing to submit personal voice and face image data in order to unblock himself is Orwellian and very scary

Thanks Alex! You are the one person to really pick up on that. Most tech videos are indeed telling people how (ie. how to code) - but then this keeps every one else away who is not interested in learning how, but more interested in the what or why.

I've just come across your work. Brilliant. It's more than that it's perfect. This is what people need. You don't need to know how, but why. You do this better than anyone.

Machine learning has the potential to accelerate science. This paper from folks at Harvard and Princeton shows how deep learning can speed up progress towards fusion energy: It's great to see Keras and TensorFlow being used here.

What is SQL? Structured Query Language is a language that communicates with databases. In an era of big data, it is the one language you probably should learn:

As technology advances, it will continue to blur the lines between public and private. Example #1 video camera door bells. Yes it’s private property, but what about those whose job involves delivery? Is it fair to film them?

True! Very likely I bet. We should send direct messages to the business that way. "Alexa No" proceeded by "Hi Amazon, I just wanted to say that I think you should X new feature, thanks for listening, bye".

People always forget that Machine Learning requires Human Teaching! Not surprised to hear that Amazon admits that groups of Amazon workers listen in to snippets of what you're saying to Amazon Echo. To do what you ask? To train Alexa more!

In awe of big data: multiple telescopes around the world collected data on two Black Holes, resulting in 1 million gigabytes of data that was sitched together by 1 supercomputer over 2 years to get this visual picture of a black hole!

As someone that is trying to make short educational videos on YouTube, some changes to YouTube's algorithms frustrate me: "In response, the YouTube community began creating videos that were over 10 minutes in length as a way to try to appease the system"
