Well, Yoga C630 laptop with SD850 is $799; 12 inch Galaxy Book2 with Pen/kB is $999 vs $907 for Go at 10-inch.

Doubtful. Just like Surface Pro LTE sold direct only. AT&T may offer it thru business channels, but not stores/contracts, etc.

I'm "I could argue with you about this topic and probably even "win" but I'll just mute you forever because it's all pointless" years old.

That cost reduction would maybe be like $5-$10. How much do you think boxes cost for packaging? And what if ppl don't want pen or cover? Or different color? Have more SKUs? that's even more waste. Microsoft is not competing here. HP, Dell, and Lenovo are.

That's a terrible point. Xbox team has no other competition that uses Xbox OS on hardware, just Sony. If HP, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung were not partners your point would make some sense.

Oh why HP uses Synaptics drivers. Or why Lenovo can't make good speakers 😂 My guess is they have long-standing contracts preventing them moving on these things, which is lame. Holds them back.

I don't disagree just saying there's no evidence they're switching away from it, which is unfortunate.

Surface Pro 6 and Laptop 2 suggest otherwise 😂

Bundle doesn't change the bottom-line cost. Not sure why so many of you are obsessed with this idea. The pricing is no different. If you want a cheaper Surface just say that. Bundles don't do this. They just limit your color options.

But that's the whole point of Surface for that to happen. It's a GOOD thing.

I'm not sure what ambitious would even be, tbh. It's realistic though, which is more important than getting people hyped over faux dreams.

People have been saying that for YEARS, but no evidence of its effect. Surface rev has gone up and Pros are still the most popular Surface. Also, the point of Surface is not to "beat" HP, Samsung, etc. It's to set the bar, to be an aspirational device - not a bargain.

More likely is the proposed Surface eGPU concept that has been floating around internally. Would be interesting to see that happen and the timing would be better.

This "dream" Surface Pro is pretty spot on although that trackpad looks hilarious (a mechanical trackpad that size could have clicking/zone issues). I don't think the rest is crazy though. Could very well happen. 🤞

Small note that's in the article: If you want a 256GB with LTE you'll need to buy it direct from Microsoft (Surface for Business). It'll be more for the storage + Windows 10 Pro license, but it's there if you want it.
