now that i've cut ties with lambda school, i think it's important that i share the experience i had as a student there. i'm a black woman from the bronx who wanted to break into ux design. i had high hopes and i bought into the marketing.

I've been working on a story about for five months, and I'm relieved to finally be able to report on its various fraudulent practices. Lambda has claimed a 86% student placement rate for years. The real number is probably about 50%.

"Uber lost $8.5 billion in 2019.. it thinks it can finally eke out a profit on an adjusted based at the end of 2020", "adjusted" for expenses they'd rather not count. That's how I adjust myself into being a billionaire too! (justing for missing billion).

"Complexity is like a bug light for smart people. This stuff is just so cool to work on. Technologies for operating at scale developed by companies that need them end up in the hands of people who aspire to work at those scales" 🎯

I swear we taped this interview a while ago, but damn this is a timed release given this week’s discussion of microservices, needless complexities, and exploding heads 🤯😂

When your work is judged by your peers or teachers, you get rewarded for sophistication. But when your work is judged by your accountant's P&L, there's no reward for doing complicated things. Unlearn your bias to complicate things. It's all downside.

Everyone who worked on this should be in jail. From management, to strategy, to design, to engineering. Not only did they betray the people they’re supposed to look out for, they did it while those people were seeking care. They knew what it did and they built it. Shame on them.

"Monoliths are the future because the problem people are trying to solve with microservices doesn’t really line up with reality", I aspire to such savage language as that which flows from . PREACH BROTHER! 😂❤️✊

Second time in two weeks I’ve talked to a dad whose teenage son is being radicalized by content recommended to him by YouTube. Regular folks have no idea this stuff is out there, being force fed to kids, and no tools to help reduce or prevent the harm.

Once you realize that a monolithic app running on a few "medium" servers can get you a Top 40 website, you start seeing unnecessary complexity all around you.

Another example: et al serve 3.5M requests/day from a single $240/mo host. This is only surprising when we’re brainwashed by the merchants of complexity. Beware of them!

I love how Blizzard singlehandedly did more to pull Gaming's focus to the situation in Hong Kong than one Hearthstone pro ever could alone.
