If immunity is "justified" by the fact that knowledge of harm is obtained from 3 Parties over which the perpetrator of the harmful act has no control doesn't that apply as a general principle and if so imagine the consequences on accountability. Laws are made by 3. Parties

When Law and Ethics drift apart the Rule of Law is exposed and that is precisely the result of immunity. Sheltering an entire industry from legal accountability is intrinsically unethical and discriminatory unless applied to us all and then what happens?

If you know that your actions cause harm you are accountable unless you have valid defense. Immunity is not valid defense. It's a legal construct designed to protect against accountability in the absence of valid defense. It does not justify harm.

A friend of mine just lost a job opportunity because of defamatory content merchandized by Google. His prospects of ever getting another job interview are worse than bleak. Is this the world we want?

To most of us Free Speech is a foundational Value obtained through centuries of struggle for emancipation. To Google and FB free speech is of value, not a value. A convenient justification for a business model. A business value. An asset increasingly depreciated.

“For Albert Camus, “[t]he absurd is born of this confrontation between the human need [for reasons] and the unreasonable silence of the world.” For Eagleton, by contrast, “comedy represents a momentary respite from the tyrannical legibility of the world.”

Tech has carefully orchestrated a cult of tech exceptionalism premised on the notion that disruption = progress, & that democracy is a threat to freedom. Just beneath the surface is a sense of manifest destiny that erodes human agency.
