As a grandfather I pray for health. Not for my own sake, but to be there for my grandsons, to watch over them for as long as God allows. This weekend I'll see both of them graduate, walk with pride across a stage in answer to their names. A cherished highlight in a blessed life.

Can Twitter be a vehicle for poetic justice? Watching GOP Congressman Justin Amash use President Trump's favorite communications tool to attack the legal legitimacy of his presidency is a sight to behold. (The whole thread is quite the read)

Pres. Trump complaining Democrats getting nothing done in Congress, when they control only the House (sigh). Plus, I seem to remember when GOP controlled both houses and the White House and got very little accomplished. But I guess history and civics are not Trump's strong suits.

The White House Rose Garden is a special space in our political landscape, a stage for presidential dramas, victory laps, catharsis and tragedies. It's seen plenty of hyperbolic rhetoric and self-promotion. But many Americans are bound to view today's spectacle as a new low.

Sometimes incompetence doesn't flow from corruption. And sometimes corruption isn't imbued with incompetence. And then sometimes, like the present, we see both of these forces in destructive tandem.

The real danger for the GOP is that what Justin Amash is saying just seems to makes SENSE to a lot of people. It seems to be resonating with good old-fashioned American values about the rule of law and the difference between right and wrong.

Pardoning convicted war criminals is the opposite of supporting our troops. It undermines the vast, vast majority of service members who behave with honor and it puts our troops in danger. It's un-American, unjust, and unwise.

The attacks on Justin Amash are predictable. What's also predictable is they are mostly personal, trying to undercut the man rather than confront the strength and reason of his incisive critique of the president's actions and the political opportunists who condone those actions.

Congrats to the Trailblazers on a great season. They showed plenty of heart and talent against the Warriors. But it wasn’t quite enough against a true dynasty playing an inspired basketball, a mixture of grit and finesse that’s a beauty to behold.

Will the Warriors sweep? I must say their flow has been a joy to behold. But in the end, I believe the need to fear the deer.

I have found that contempt, derision, and misdirections for those asking questions of the powerful are often symptoms of deep fears for the truth that could be exposed.

Landing on the moon was a technical accomplishment, but also the inspiration of reaching for horizons. With the lunar rocks we collected, we answered some mysteries but not all. The wonder of science now will continue...

Science! It’s long been a foundation of American strength, security and our contribution to the world. The current administration’s hostility to science is offensive and destructive.

Helium isn't just for party balloons. It's vital and non-renewable resource for science and technology. It's worth giving the second-lightest element a lot more respect.

Tweets from are rightly making news. This is what principle over party looks like, We can disagree over policy, but we shouldn't disagree over the rule of law. The call for impeachment, at least with this one voice so far, has taken on a hint of bipartisanship.
