"Liberals on the ethics committee ensured fellow MPs would have no better luck searching for answers. It was the same ploy they used to prevent the justice committee from hearing additional testimony in March"

A great thread on why, regardless of political leanings, we should be concerned with the precedent the Liberals set yesterday by preventing an independent officer of Parliament from presenting and defending his or her findings in public before a Parliamentary committee.

Officers of Parliament release reports all the time. In my 15 years on the Hill, it is a routine thing that the relevant House committee then takes testimony from said officer about that report. Until today. When MPs decided to silence an officer of Parliament. Shame.

It’s almost like they’re afraid of what an independent Officer of Parliament would say about their leader’s ethics and efforts to obstruct his investigation

In 2014, our Conservative government led the charge to suspend Russia from the G8 after it invaded Crimea. Since then, Russia has done nothing to earn the international community’s trust. We shouldn’t let them back *in* until they get *out* of Ukraine.
