Dunedin, FL fined a homeowner $500 per day for overgrown grass. Now the city filed a motion to dismiss an suit, claiming IJ cast the city as a “petty dictator” and that the fines are not excessive. The city also spent $25,000 on a crisis PR firm.

Thank you so much! I am working on a law review article addressing crimes created by local government, especially strict liability crimes. I wonder if the ordinance here also has a criminal penalty. Clearly he didn’t intend to violate it!
