We’re pleased that some garden centres are doing right thing & switching away from peat compost. Agree that peat should be in bogs not bags

& , with the support of the commoners are doing some fantastic blanket bog restoration work on Bampton Common. The pics show before (2018) & after (2019). Reprofiling & revegetating these hags keeps the peat wet & stops it eroding

Harvesting bracken for our compost in the south Lakes this week. This improves habitat for ground nesting birds & butterflies in particular the High Brown Fritillary. Bracken is potash-rich & forms base for all our composts
