The roads in and around Dawson Springs have improved significantly. School will be in session on a ONE HOUR DELAY on Friday, Jan. 19th. Please drive carefully and give yourself some extra time, there will be isolated areas of slick spots.

Due to the extreme cold and re-freeze which will occur overnight there will be NO SCHOOL in DS on Thursday, Jan. 18th. The roads in town are much improved and I believe we may be in school Friday (be prepared) Homecoming & spirit week activities have been postponed at this time.

Due to poor road conditions and the cold, there will be NO SCHOOL in Dawson Springs on Wednesday, Jan. 17th. HOWEVER we do anticipate trying to be in session on Thursday if conditions improve as we anticipate. Kudos to our staff who have been cleaning up campus, it looks good.

I anticipate our DS Schools will be on regular time tomorrow but we will be monitoring the weather as well as the road conditions very closely. Any school delay or closing information will be posted here on Twitter first thing. Spread the word on where to find the scoop first.

Today we started the new year smoothly without any problems despite the cold weather. I commend all our staff for an awesome start. We’ll be on regular time again tomorrow... bundle up as it will be cold coming in. Our buses will offer rides to any students we see walking.

Our Elementary is out in town for a few minutes this afternoon singing Christmas carols for some folks at the local senior citizens home as well as the bank and the square here in town. Thank you to those parents and supporters who came out and listened.

It was a great night on Thursday night 12/7 as the DS Rotary had our annual Christmas Dinner. We also had special guests in attendance...The Hopkins County Honor Guard, who we recognized for their great contribution to our country and community. Our own Dave Cooley spoke also.

It was a great day today as I had a chance to meet with our elementary school student advisory council. They are a lively group and we had great discussion. They are for tobacco free campus and being a part of a “green team” in their school. Super group!
