The thermal scanners were further alleged to have been donated to him in his capacity as chapter president of Lion's Club. De Castro was selling a total of 150 pcs thermal scanners for P1.2M. The suggested retail price for thermal scanners ranges from P800 to P1500 in the market.

The NBI-Special Action Unit (SAU) apprehended yesterday, 24 March 2020, Tuesday, Dr. CEDRIC JOHN SARMIENTO DE CASTRO, a medical doctor, and allegedly chapter president of Lions Club, in New Manila Quezon City, for allegedly selling overpriced thermal scanners at P9,500.00 each.
