Terrific interview on geoengineering with and . Worth a long listen. Sensible and on-point. This thread has some comments linked to time stamps in the podcast.

Jane and then Ezra nail the limited relevance of survey research to assess moral hazard (~28:00 and 59:00). People may be more motivated to cut emissions if they know about solar geoengineering (SG), yet political outcome may still be less action.

See our review of this lit: SG will not change greens who want fast emissions cuts nor big fossil that want's to resist. More relevant Q is how SG will change behavior of median voter once it is a topic of active public debate.

At 11:00 says we must have carbon removal to stop solar geo without termination. Not so! Even without any CDR temporary SG can slow the rate of change. See for example:

Binary thinking that carbon prices some global uniform price or nothing (48:00). DAC development like that is driven by local high prices like LCFS. And current LCFS will allow DAC-CCS to benefit even without fuels. Local German PV feed-in drove innovation

Wizards vs Prophets: at 1:03 sets up value conflict between folks who want deeper appreciation of natural world Vs folks who like SG and want tech to keep capitalism rolling. This leaves out folks like me who want SG to preserve nature...

...or as Leslie Paul Thiele put's it 'anthropocentric but not anthropocentric'. See last chapter of my book.

Finally, at 1:12 there are overclaims about SCoPEx. It's not the first outdoor exp. And I think it's massive overclaim to call this "first really significant study of SG".
