the article states repeatedly that the analysis pertains to the country's highest density areas i even say that NY families are leaving Manhattan for less dense cities! that said: this is really interesting data and i appreciate you sharing it.

that's a great point. online dating can be empowering that way, altho there's still a lot of abuse of the platform. i think it's fair to say dating has always been problematic, and there were/are serious issues w/ romance mediated by (eg) parents and churches

what a description of online dating: “a digital bazaar where one’s appearance, interestingness, quick humor, lighthearted banter, sex appeal, photo selection—one’s worth—is submitted for 24/7 evaluation before an audience of distracted or cruel strangers”

Perhaps! But even before Santiago’s death, Lt. Caffey spends most of his time playing softball and doing plea deals for marijuana possession (or oregano). Maybe being a lawyer is just super boring...

In college, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer so I did a Legal Studies concentration. What I quickly learned was I didn't want to practice law at all, I just wanted to play-act as Tom Cruise from A Few Good Men. So I more or less spent the rest of school acting.

ppl get embarrassed! my gf and i met online four years ago and for at least 6 months made up our meet-up story at weddings and parties (met at archeological dig, was one) but maybe online dating has become common enough in 2019 that such excuse-making isnt so necessary
