Article: The rule of law is usually not an effective safeguard against a government which is determined to undermine it or to re-purpose it for its own advantage. In such circumstances, popular protest is more effective than the rule of law.

Excellent travail de fond, excellentes conclusions: plutôt que de sacrifier sa politique de concurrence (ce qui tuerait l'innovation), l'UE doit changer sa politique commerciale. Bonnes propositions à ce sujet dans cette note.

Bad paper. Claims that WTP/WTA correlation provides validity to WTA results then highlights WTA results that are 10x larger. Does not account for the costs of using those services. Doesnt address tech benefits v privacy costs in same method. Not a useful paper. See Sunstein on FB

WTA > WTP so this cherry-picking aims to look like people love & don't care about . WTA/WTP studies experience this consistency problem & we still haven't figured out why. Moreover, "WTP And WTA Are Probably Less Correlated Than You Think"

In debate about the value of services & the value of , some tech boosters & people are dishonest when they quantify services as "willingness to accept" estimates & the value of privacy as "willingness to pay" estimates. Apples & oranges!

Planes made by Boeing and Airbus aren’t faster than they were in the 1970s, but they are 70% more efficient per passenger and mile. Even long-haul flights now beat cars for fuel efficiency per passenger/mile. The problem is more people are flying further.

"All that invasion of privacy can even lead to targeting the wrong group of people. This insight is absent from the debate about online privacy and advertising. At the moment, we don’t even know whether all this privacy violation works as advertised."
