I am so disgusted, angry and upset after having read today's Philly Inquirer article that I had to comment - this goes out directly to you STEPHEN LETT.

As an ex-JW I want to thank you so very much for writing about this - the more light is shined on the Watchtower's abusive policies and blatant lies, the better.

I auxiliary pioneered after high school for 12 months. During that time I never had a single bible study despite my effort and prayer. All I could manage was a small magazine route, which when looking back probably consisted of polite people who felt sorry for me.

“My parents received a lot of opposition, even though I was only 5. I was marked as ‘dirty.’” A rape survivor wants justice and closure — and for her old religion to reconsider how it responds to child sex abuse.

.⁦⁩ does it again. Thank you ⁦⁩ for staying on this. That specific video of Lett calling victims liars is what sparked my passion to speak out. My plan was to fade until I saw that.

This is exactly the sort of decent behavior that we once believed was exclusive to "Jehovah's organization."

JW1 “Jehovah is truly blessing his organisation!” JW2 “Uh aren’t we a bit broke?” JW1 “We can see his hand moving events in our favour.” JW2 “Except in court. And in the media. And in growth.” JW1 “...Why you gotta do this to me Barry?”

JW1 “Jehovah truly is speeding up the work in this time of the end.” JW2 “But the growth is stagnant.” JW1 “Yes. Truly speeding up.” JW2 “And we’re shutting branches, printing less and firing staff.” JW 1 “I said SPEEDING UP, BARRY!”

This video got me thinking. This video got me wondering. How many of the truly core JW beliefs actually require the toxic cult aspects of JW culture. E.g does a belief in Armageddon or 1914 require shunning? Fun to ponder what a reformed JW theology would look like.

That’s understandable. It’s some tricky emotional territory to navigate.

Worth pointing out as well that if those reforms happened you wouldn’t need to return the the religion to hang out with your JW freinds. They’d be allowed to hang out with whoever they wanted if the strict social control was lifted. Theoretically.
