Heatwaves mean increased home energy use at a time when many can't afford to pay their electricity bills. Florida utilities' voluntary policy is better than nothing but firm policy is needed. Florida needs a mandatory moratorium on all utility shut-offs. 4/7

As job/income losses make it harder to pay utility bills going into summer, and as the need for social distancing continues, it is a public health imperative that moratoria on electricity shut-offs be implemented by states across the country. 6/7
