The Church Of Satan
We mourn the loss of this historical and architectural treasure. It was a monument to the genius of those who designed and built it, and we grieve with Paris and all who basked in its splendor.

"I spent several hours there back in the mid 70's, toured it, going up one tower and then listened to organist Pierre Cochereau practice. Very moving experience, contemplating all of the history it saw." - Magus Peter H. Gilmore

I know Anton LaVey went to Paris at least once in the 1970's, so naturally I wonder if he visited the Cathedral during his visit.

Only slight snark, but I think it's against the law to visit Paris and *not* visit Notre Dame.

Not really. You can still visit Notre Dame, it just might not look like what was pictured in the brochure for a bit.

Notre Dame wasn't just a church, it was a peice of art and history. All who visited it could see that. This in not a time to let religion affiliations blind you, mourn the loss of a historic artifact that after 850 years standing tall, has fallen.

Take comfort that they were able to successfully secure and remove all the art and artifacts inside before the fire spread too far

Quite trippy to see something like "The Church of Satan" have a mournful say about this. But, to be fair, there are atheists (at least one I saw) who are upset by this tragedy; Notre-Dame de Paris is a church, but it is also a testament of human ingenuity and of history.

You’re quite right and phrases it so well, some structures are just part of our collective human history.

A firefighter has been injured while fighting the blaze, so somebody is injured, but it could have been far worse

Thank goodness only injured! Injured means recovery is in the future. Could be much worse.❤️
