You know I asked a client why they wanted their users to print something out today. I don't think they realized the information was already on their phone and accessible offline. Changed their plans to print at that point :)

Adobe stops the development of PhoneGap and PhoneGap Build, and also stops their investment in Apache Cordova, all citing declined use and grown capabilities of Progressive Web Apps. πŸ‘

TL;DR: you can throw massive HTML at the browser now and, if styled correctly and mostly out of the viewport, get fast first and subsequent rendering. Time to throw out some more JS!

I have owners ask me to look at Angular and React sites all the time to figure out why they are so slow. Most have 5-50MB of JavaScript & often a few hundred HTTP requests over HTTP 1.1

FYI, this is great, but right now I believe only Chrome and Edge support this. So all iPhones are out as well as FireFox and a few other browsers. So you still need a polyfil that leans on IntersectionObever.

A substantial percentage, looking at the stats from perf-track. 😬 Ember is also incredibly high.

Oooh this is a great resource! Thanks for sharing. Yes, Ember is slow too, all fast food frameworks are slow by design. Well they are designed so developers get to write & ship more lines of code, not for user experience, which I consider the #1 requirement.

to you credit, I don't see as many pages with this sort of problem as a result of a search result outside of the online marketing/SEO space LOL

It does seem like these site would see more issues ranking in organic search due to the degraded UX. So it makes me wonder how well you guys are at evaluating the JavaScript on a web page. Seems like with that much JS it would trigger bad ranking scores.

LOL, I get at least one real nasty (with a fake email address) telling me I am the scum of the earth because I display the REQUIRED GDPR consent on my web pages. You just have to click OK once and you never see it again....

Thanks! Most content online is repurposed to some degree. I do a lot of SEO these days. You have to reference stats.. Original data is tough to create. For me not enough time or $$$ :)
