I'd love for a journalist to offer some investigative reporting as to the explanation for this.

Assuming only a fraction of those cleared result in a conviction, what percent of homicides eventually resolve in some meaningful punishment? Law's not much of a deterrent if <5% of murders end w/ justice.

They just keep saying crime is down.. and I almost want to say murder. But don't quote me. But I remember saying down from obscene as I walked passed the Television.

If you were going to kill someone, Chicago is the place to do it. Over 80% you’ll get away with it.

What's really crazy is that there are actually far fewer murders now than there were in the 90s. How can the killings and the clearance rate both fall? Is the number of cops significantly different now? Has the type of killing changed?

Perhaps someone should ask the boss why murders are way up since he was named and so few are being solved. His records worse than the bears but no one will expect him to answer for it.

Has the old data been corrected to adjust for the homicides Chicago Police Department said were solved, but were really pinned on someone who was innocent?

Police don't give a damn and people don't talk. There's no evidence left behind but some shell casings at the scene and most cover themselves up...no face no case!!!

Damn right. People don't talk, no evidence to go off of and cover yourself up...no face no case!

Does that mean in the past years innocent people were being charged in order to reach higher solve rates ?

Maybe CPD only knows how to clear a murder when John Burge is torturing out false confessions?

Completely unacceptable and the problem is there's no real plan or path forward to make it better. Where is the leadership?

Yeah if you think these guys "get away with it," I'm not sure you really understand what's happening here
