Many can't understand significance of islands, if an indian official goes 2 lakshadweep he sees only sand dunes & its not same with Chinese

Instead of always playing second fiddle to International Chinese grabs, India could have leased Maldives islands decades ago. Why didn't we? Somehow this self righteous actions of past decades is biting us big time now.
