This data suggests the AZN vaccine will likely not be as effective as RNA vaccines, especially if one has to take it again in the 2nd year. Or in countries where the adenovirus vector has been seen. This is not rocket science, and my friend who told me this was right again.

This Oxford/Azn news may sound weird. 0.5 dose+1 dose was more effective than 1+1. Why? I'll tell you why. The adenovirus vector, which acts as a carrier of spike protein, triggers immune response. body recognizes & destroys the carrier at the gate (1/n)

The eLocust3m PlantVillage platform has been made public. You can go in and look at records as they arrive. And how well the cloud AI system does in classifying the stages. This will improve over time but already quite good

Some basics (from a prof friend and my reading). Antibodies can be stimulated but will decay and only work for a couple of months. T-cells remember the virus and are what gives you longer immunity. Hence vaccines w/o T-cell response will likely give no durability.

A covid-19 thread. A year ago, we were living in Sweden on sabbatical. In Sept. 2019, my husband ran a 15 km race in Sweden. 15k people, he came in the top 20%. Fit as can be. No underlying conditions. He's on the phone now w/ his parents, describing how he can't walk a block

The little fluctuations come from the fact that SMAP has only 2-3 revisit time so if it is very dry the transition between days can be under-constrained. should've added a smoothness loss, just for the aesthetics.

Locust warms spotted in Kitui County, Kenya today. They have come across from Somalia on the winds. Not large numbers. . We are expecting a lot more swarms to arrive from Somalia and Ethiopia.
